Professor Lou Thompson, Faculty Advisor and Mentor of the SAP User’s Group addressed the gathering and welcomed the instructor, Mr. Krishna Chaitanya Varma, Senior Developer, Elo Touch Solutions and a former JSOM student. The professor then explained the importance of ABAP in SAP and the agenda of the playground session.
The playground session revolved around ABAP. Starting with a brief overview of all the RICEF objects, Mr. Krishna then deep dived into DDIC objects, Smart forms, Interfaces, ALV Reports, and User Enhancement Spots like BADI Implementations. Following this, a demo on transparent table creation followed by an ALV report creation using standard database tables & the custom table was carried out. Hands-on exercises were given to participants on all modules and transactions that were discussed. Mr. Krishna also emphasized on the necessity of ABAP in SAP and how ABAP works with all the functional modules. The senior members of the SUG who had prior experince with ABAP coordinated with the students to help them with hands-on session.
The Information session concluded with a Q&A session. Prof. Lou Thompson presented Mr. Krishna Chaitanya Varma with a Certificate of honor. The playground saw the participation of 27 students. The students were provided with SAP IDs valid for 2 months so that they can practice on their own. Overall, the event was a great success.
